Don't send the generated output to the printer by default. Sending the file by default to the printer is (IMHO): . counter-intuitive; the name a2ps suggests that the tool converts ASCII (plus other files) to Postscript, but it by no means gives a hint that it would print something without asking, . violating the Unix way; we've got pipes, and people are used to use them when they want to print something (IMHO there isn't even a good reason for adding all the -P bloat to a2ps at all, but of course, i don't suggest changing _that_), . contradictionary to all the documentation about a2ps since the docs tell you that it would only start printing if a -P or -c option is being provided, . a waste of paper for the brave user who starts the program in the innocent assumption to get just a Postscript file out of it. Comment out a2ps.el for now, this won't package since emacs is not a dependency (which is a good thing!). Remove removal of site-lisp directories, they are created by mtree anyway. Submitted by: bento2953f5b689
Since the maintainer could not be bothered in the past _3_ months to move ``sheet.map'' to freefall:~/public_distfiles, I'll host the file.20a4775db0

From received mail: Hi, by accident I found that a2ps dumps core if invoked with options for the old a2ps version. a2ps -f -F7.0 reproduces the problem. With the following patch the problem seems to be cured. The patches work. Submitted by: Oliver Adler <oli@devsoft.devsoft.com>7d3b447cba
Rename INSTALLS_SHLIBS to INSTALLS_SHLIB. (There was a typo in the previous commit message to bsd.port.mk, which said INSTALL_SHLIBS. Boo.) Line up the rhs of variable assignments nicely. Remove a couple of extra whitespaces while I'm here. Suggested by: sobomaxffb21b5654
Fix MASSIVE typo INSTALL_SHLIBS --> INSTALLS_SHLIBS, which occured because I just cun'n'pasted the name from Satoshi's commit message without checking it. Hall of shame entry: sobomax61ebd322a2

Commit a patch for this I've been sitting on for a while. Changes `PS' to `PAPERSIZECNF' as I think it is more documenting. `PS' will be taken to be PostScript by many (esp. in the context of printing) This method removes the use of external programs to set `PAPERSIZECNF'.6bc7608e59
Remove LOOP_VAR and replace it with tiny Makefiles using MASTERDIR to share most files. Repository copy the default to explicitly named directories to avoid any confusion. Greatly simplify the shared Makefiles, since we are now in different subdirectories, we don't need "a4-install" stuff. While I'm here, consistently name the variables. Here are the guidelines (master port is in brackets) DOCFORMAT: [html] pdf ps KONFONT: 14dot [16dot] PAPERSIZE: a4 [letter] letterdj RESOLUTION: 118 240 [300] 360 400 600 "math/r" has been copied to "R-a4" and "R-letter", to follow the spirit of the original port. "japanese/kon" is renamed to "kon2-*", since that seems to be the basename.751790b51a
Make thise ports use LOOP_VAR and LOOP_OPTIONS for PAPERSIZE. While I'm here, make a2ps43's Makefile detect the missing PAPERSIZE correctly, and add -${PAPERSIZE} in lprps's PKGNAME.02d389691cadd liba2ps.lacf83df05b2

Update to version 4.10.3, because old distfiles is defunct, and there are a few added features and newly supported languages for the pretty printing feature. Also 'cause John Polstra reminded me.963c8add3b
Update a2ps port to version 4.10.2. There was a PR (6663) opened for leaving files in /, I chose to update the port from scratch rather than troubleshoot it. I'm very sure the new port doesn't do that. PR: 666366bfebec20

Mark a bunch of ports with MANUAL_PACKAGE_BUILD. With a change to bsd.port.mk that will be committed soon, this will disable automatic package building when PACKAGE_BUILDING is defined (so they can be built from separate scripts). These are no-ops for ordinary users (i.e., when PACKAGE_BUILDING is not defined).f44828dd89
